All Saturn engines utilize a distributorless ignition system (DIS) to provide spark that creates air/fuel combustion. The ignition coil as the heart of the ignition system. Signs of a damaged ignition coil include oil leaks, failure to start, irregular or fast idle or stalling.

Instructions

    1

Determine which bank you need to work on. The VUE has two banks, each of which contain a VUE ignition coil.

    2

Access the VUE ignition coil on Bank 1. Remove the fasteners at the front outlet resonator/duct assembly and at the air cleaner assembly. You also need to remove the support bracket bolt and the outlet resonator/duct assembly.

    3

Expose the ignition coil on Bank 2. Unlike Bank 1, you should be able to see the ignition coil on Bank 2 without removing any additional components.

    4

    Unplug the electrical connectors.

    5

Pull out the old or damaged ignition coil and replace it with a new VUE ignition coil.

    6

Reinstall the components that you removed. You can use a torque wrench to tighten the engine coil bolts to 106 inch pounds (12 Nm).
