The antenna on the 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer is mounted on the front, passenger side of the truck, where it connects to the radio via wiring. Replacing the antenna can be as simple as changing the mast sticking out of the vehicle. If you are replacing it with a stronger version or a power model, you will need to replace the base and/or the wiring from inside the vehicle as well.

Instructions

    1

Unscrew and remove the antenna mast from its base using a small open-end wrench. Skip to Step 8 if this is all you need to replace.

    2

Unscrew and remove the lower sound panel from the right-side dashboard using a screwdriver, then unscrew and remove the glove compartment. Detach the lower-rear part of the inner fender liner.

    3

Disconnect the antenna cable from the radio wire; these two connect at the instrument panel's far-right end. Tie a length of fishing line to the antenna cable and pull the cable and grommet out through the hole in the inner fender liner's cowl and into the fender opening.

    4

Unscrew the antenna mast base, located under the hood, using a screwdriver and pull it and its cable out.

    5

Tie the fishing line to the replacement cable and feed the cable into the vehicle body in the same path the old one followed. Connect this cable to the radio cable.

    6

Screw the antenna mast in place on the frame of the engine compartment and connect its wire to the main cable.

    7

Reconnect the glove box and other trim panels.

    8

Connect the new antenna mast to the base with the wrench.
