The rear hatch on a 1991 Acura Integra LS hatchback allows drivers to hold large cargo in the back of the car, and gives the car a sporty look. In the situation where you have an accident, or maybe you need to align the rear hatch, you'll want to remove the hatch from the car to take care of the problem. This will require some heavy lifting, so make sure you have assistants who can carry the load.

Instructions

    1

Open the rear hatch. Locate the plastic covers on the hatch struts, the ones attached to the hatch itself. Remove these plastic covers using your hands and set them to the side.

    2

Remove the plastic panel at the rear section of the headliner using your hands to release the clips. Place your assistants on each side of the hatch, and have them support the rear hatch completely.

    3

Unbolt the hatch struts from the hatch using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the struts off the hatch so that the only thing supporting the hatch in the air are your assistants. Unbolt the hatch hinges from the bolts underneath the headliner using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Lift the hatch off the car, being careful to balance the weight of the hatch among the two assistants and yourself.
