The Volkswagen Jetta comes in a few styles such as S, SE and SEL. In any of these an electrical fuse can go bad. With a few minutes of your time and no tools, replace a fuse on any of these models yourself.

Instructions

    1

Turn off your Volkswagen Jetta before you replace a fuse. Locate the fuse box on the left side of the dashboard between the steering wheel and driver's side door.

    2

Open the fuse box to reveal the fuses there. Consult your owner's manual or the list on the inside cover to find the fuse you need to replace. For example, in a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta the brake light fuse is in slot 20.

    3

Pull out the fuse by grasping it between your thumb and forefinger. Look at the silver band inside, which is burnt if the fuse is bad.

    4

Replace the fuse with a new one that has the same rating. In the previous example, the brake light fuse uses a 10 amp fuse.

    5

Push the new fuse in until it clicks into place. Close the fuse box and restart your Jetta. Try out the new fuse to make sure it's functioning correctly.
