The 2008 Dodge Durango's rear taillight is mounted next to the cargo door and is easily accessible. You might want to remove the rear taillight to replace an individual bulb within the assembly, such as the brake light, rear turn signal or backup light. Removing the rear taillight also allows you to replace the entire assembly, if you wish to install a custom assembly or replace a broken one.

Instructions

    1

Open the cargo hatch. Inspect the inboard side of the rear taillight to find the two mounting pins.

    2

Pull the pins out with a pair of pliers and save them for reinstallation.

    3

Grasp the inboard side of the rear taillight with both hands. Pull outward. The taillight will flip open, exposing the bulb strip and electrical connection.

    4

Squeeze the tab on the connection, and pull it away from the bulb strip.

    5

Bring the rear taillight to a table if you want to remove the individual bulbs. Remove the three Phillips screws from the bulb strip. Carefully lift the bulb strip away from the taillight.

    6

Pull the bulb you want to remove straight up. This unplugs it from the bulb strip.
