The side mirrors on the 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche offer a basic but integral function: providing rear vision while driving. Some newer vehicles, however, also have integrated lights and turn signals, or even a heated lens. Alternatively, you could have damaged the stock mirror in an accident. Either way, if you want to remove the stock mirror and replace it with a new one, the job takes approximately 10 minutes and only requires one tool.

Instructions

    1

Open up the door. Locate the triangular panel on the interior of the Avalanche, opposite the mirror. Pull the panel off the door by hand.

    2

Remove the foam padding inside of the door. Unplug the power mirror harness. Roll down the window. Hold the mirror with one hand while unbolting it from the door using the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the mirror out of the door.

    3

Put the replacement mirror into the door and bolt it in place using the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket. Plug the power mirror harness into the mirror. Push the foam back into the door. Push the triangular panel onto the door until it clips in place.
