In 1994, GMC introduced a new front grille shell for their popular 1500 series trucks, which was very popular over the next few years. This painted grille shell had a large opening in the middle, and stood apart from the traditional Chevrolet front end. These grilles can be installed on either a Chevrolet or a GMC truck, as well. If your stock grille shell is damaged on your GMC, or you want one for your Chevrolet, you first have to remove the grille.

Instructions

    1

Remove the corner lenses below the headlights using the Phillips head screwdriver. Pull out the lenses, then twist out the bulbs using your hands.

    2

Reach inside the corner lamp holes with your hands to release the clips that hold the bottom of the grille to the lower fascia just above the bumper. Then disconnect the middle clip using the flat head screwdriver to pop it free.

    3

Pop the hood. Unbolt the top of the grille from the truck using the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the grille straight off of the truck and set it to the side.
