How do I Remove the Bumper From a Chevrolet S10 Blazer?

A cracked, broken or otherwise damaged bumper on your Chevrolet S10 Blazer truck will not provide much protection in the event of another collision. You need to remove the bumper for replacement as soon as you can. You might also need to remove the bumper temporarily to work on other parts of the body or chassis. The process of removing a front or rear bumper is similar, with only a few differences on what extra parts you must remove to access them. There can also be slight variances depending on the year of the truck.

Instructions

    1

Pull the grille forward slowly and carefully to detach its clips from the radiator support, then remove the hose from the grille if it has headlight washers. This is needed if you are removing the front bumper.

    2

Reach behind the rear bumper to rotate and remove the license plate light bulb holder. You'll need to unclip it on some models. If the truck has a step-bumper, pull the housing upward and then out.

    3

Unscrew and remove the bolts connecting the bumper to the chassis using a Torx wrench. Remove the bolts connecting the bumper brace to the frame using a standard wrench.

    4

Lift and remove the bumper from the truck's front end. This might require a second person's help.

    5

Disconnect the electrical connectors for the left and right parking lights from their housings within the bumper if you are removing a front bumper.
