How to Replace Your Turn Signal Relay in a Toyota Tacoma

Trucks are usually easier to work on the interior due to the greater amount of space afforded by the layout of the cab. The Tacoma trucks are no exception. When you must change fuses or flashers, the greater amount of room is very handy. When the turn signals begin to act erratically, it can indicate a burned out bulb or that the flasher is going bad.

Check the light bulbs on each of the four corners of the Truck. If one bulb goes bad it will give the symptoms that the flasher may be going bad. Replace any bulb that has burned out and then recheck your turn signals to see if they work again. If not, then proceed to change the flasher.

Find the interior fuse box. It is located on the lower dash panel under the steering column on the driver's side of the truck. Remove the cover of the fuse box and using a screwdriver remove the screw that holds it in place.

Locate the turn signal/hazard flasher behind the fuse box and remove the bad unit. Replace the flasher with the new one, set position the fuse box with the screw and replace the cover.

Start the Tacoma and check each of the turn signals that they work properly. Also check the hazard lights since the relay replaced operates them too.
