Although it may be easier to rely on your local Toyota dealership for repairs, you can do some of the minor ones, such as replacing signal lights. Most times, unless you have been in an accident, signal light repair only requires changing a light bulb.

Instructions

    1

Check the signal light assembly for cracks. Make sure the wiring of the signal light is not shorting out or has corroded ends.

    2

Touch the wiring attached to the light housing and check for shorts in the electronics. Research the wire mapping in the Toyota Camry's owner's manual.

    3

Hold the signal light housing in your hand while you check the wiring. You don't want to pull the housing out so far that you cause the wires to disconnect.

    4

Make sure that the signal light bulb filament is intact. Once the light housing is detached from the car, pull the light bulb from the socket and check for black marks or broken filament inside the bulb.

    5

Use the owner's manual charts in the Appendix to find the correct wiring and light bulb codes for replacement. It is critical that the same part is used for replacement.

    6

Adjust the signal light housing carefully when you attach it back to the body of the car. Insert the plastic pegs with steady force. If the pegs snap, you need to purchase a new housing unit.
