How to Replace the PCV Valve in a VW Passat

To keep the pressure in your engine's different compartments under control, your vehicle utilizes a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve. Pop the hood and find the PCV valve in your model VW Passat. You'll find it on the valve cover next to your car's engine. Before you find the valve, you'll see a hose attaching it to the intake manifold.

Pull the PCV valve away from the grommet in order to check for any problems. Detach the hose prior to testing the part's functionality. Shake the valve slightly to listen for a rattling sound. If present, you can return the PCV valve since it's still functional.
