The 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse's side mirrors contain large studs that are secured to the door by nuts on the interior part of the door. Removing the mirrors is as simple as removing the nuts, but accessing the nuts requires time and effort. The side mirror interior panel can be removed only once the car's door panel is removed. Expect the side mirror removal procedure to take between 30 and 45 minutes.

Instructions

    1

Unhook the negative cable from the Eclipse's battery with a pair of pliers or a wrench. This will protect you from an electric shock.

    2

Pull open the inside door handle and find the screw behind it. Remove the screw with a Phillips screwdriver.

    3

Slide off the plastic panel surrounding the handle. Inspect the armrest to find the screw inside the coin holder. Remove the screw with a Phillips screwdriver.

    4

Lift the coin holder out of the armrest. Pull it up firmly. Along with it will come the window switch panel. Unplug the two wiring harnesses from the back of the window switch panel.

    5

Remove the two Phillips screws from the front edge of the door panel. The door will have to be open for you to see them. Move to the rear edge of the door panel and remove the two Phillips screws.

    6

Push the door panel upward. Then pull it rearward to unhook it from the door.

    7

Pull off the interior side mirror cover. For Eclipse models equipped with the tweeter speaker, unplug the speaker from the wiring harness.

    8

Remove the padding from behind the cover. This will give you access to the side mirror nuts.

    9

Remove the side mirror nuts with a socket wrench while holding the exterior part of the mirror to support it. Grasp the exterior part of the mirror and pull it out of the door.
