Your Honda Accord has an electrically operated engine cooling fan which is mounted directly on the radiator. While the number of parts to be removed or shifted on your Honda Accord may be intimidating, a novice can accomplish these steps in about an hour with little more than a wrench and a screwdriver.

Instructions

    1

Take note of the radio security code, then disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable of your Honda Accord. Unplug the electrical connectors and detach the wiring guide brackets from the cooling fans.

    2

Disconnect the positive battery cable and remove the battery from your vehicle. Then remove the wire harness guides, ground strap and relay box bracket from the battery tray. Finally, remove the battery tray mounting bolts and the battery tray itself.

    3

Remove the wire harness holders from the upper radiator support, and then unplug the air conditioning compressor clutch's electrical connectors.

    4

Loosen and remove the mounting bolts from the fan shroud, and then carefully lift the entire cooling fan assembly out of the engine compartment. Replace it with the new cooling fan assembly, then retighten the mounting bolts.

    5

Replace the wire harness holders on the upper radiator support and plug in the air conditioning compressor clutch's electrical connectors.

    6

Place the battery tray in its proper place and tighten the mounting bolts. Then replace the relax box bracket, ground strap and wire harness guides (in that order) and place the battery back in the tray. Plug in the cooling fans' electrical connectors and reattach the wiring guide brackets.

    7

Reconnect first the positive battery cable, then the negative battery cable and enter the radio security code. Then start your vehicle engine and check for coolant leaks and normal fan operation.
