A scratch on a car is an unfortunate reality in every driver's life. Sometimes it happens because of a slight accident. Other times, it's another driver's door in a parking lot that leaves our cars marked. Whatever the reason, it's never fun trying to get a scratch out of a car's paint. The worst is when it's a colored scratch. Fortunately, there are several products available that can help remove the colored scratch and get the car back to its original look.

Instructions

    1

Wash the effected area of the car thoroughly and then dry it.

    2

Get a small dab of the rubbing compound onto the soft rag. Work this in a circular motion on the colored scratch. Repeat this, adding more compound as needed. You should see the color fading away as you rub.

    3

Wipe away all the excess rubbing compound. Be sure you get in the scratch good, as compound will tend to settle there.

    4

Rewash the scratched area carefully, then dry it.

    5

Apply touch up paint to the scratch. Always use sparingly, you don't want it to clump. Give the paint several hours to dry.
