The front bumper assembly on a Chevrolet S-10 is made up of the steel bumper, and a plastic valance that sits underneath the steel bumper. This valance is made of plastic, and is designed to flex with impact. Sometimes, this valance can get damaged from those impacts, and it will need replacement. To fix the issue, the valance needs to be taken off of the bumper and replaced with a new one, which takes about an hour.

Instructions

    1

Crawl underneath the front bumper of the S-10. Locate the bolts running along the bottom edge of the bumper that run into the clips on the lower valance.

    2

Remove the bolts holding the valance to the bumper with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the valance down away from the bumper and out from under the S-10.

    3

Lift the replacement lower valance in place and loosely bolt it in place with the factory bolts and your hands. Tighten the bolts on the valance down with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.
