The Silverado series of Chevy trucks has been one of the company's most successful lines. The ABS relay in the Silverado is integrated into the ABS control module. Removing the ABS control module is moderately difficult and should only be done by an experienced home mechanic.

Instructions

    1

Disconnect the negative battery cable before disconnecting the command module's electrical harness connectors.

    2

Disconnect and label the five brake lines, and take off the bolts which secure the command module to the frame rail.

    3

Remove the command module assembly from the Silverado and disconnect it from the mounting bracket and the two-way ABS pump motor connector.

    4

Remove the ABS command module from the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve. This may require some force to separate the two.

    5

Replace the unit and reassemble and reattach the command module in the reverse order in which it was removed. Be sure to clean the area where the command module joins the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve.

    6

Tighten the retaining bolts and bracket bolts to manufacturer's specifications and reconnect the brake pipes and tightening them to specifications.

    7

Reconnect the negative cable on the battery and bleed the brake system.
