How to Remove a Tailight From a 2001 Toyota Sienna

The tail light housings, which are on both corners of the Toyota Sienna's rear end, are used to hold the tail lights, the brake lights and the turn signal lights. If any of these bulbs burns out, the housing lens is broken or the housing is damaged in any other way, you need to remove the tail light from the vehicle for immediate replacement. On the 2001 model, the tail light housing is secured to the body with screws and clips.

Instructions

    1

Open the rear hatch to access the mounting screws for the tail light housing, which are near the edge of the hatch jamb. Remove the screws with a wrench and push the tail light lens away from the body.

    2

Pry the tail light housing away from the car body to release the pins, which are located near the outer edge of the holder, and remove the housing. Use a trim stick and place a rag against the body while prying to prevent scratching the body.

    3

Twist each of the bulb holders counterclockwise to remove them from the housing. If the bulbs are still working, meaning you need to replace the tail light housing, do not touch the bulb glass with your fingers. To remove any bulb that needs replacing, pull the bulb out of the holder.
