Within your vehicle, the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve controls the amount of pressure that builds up in the engine. If the valve fails to work properly, your engine will start to run rough or backfire during operation. You can easily replace the PCV valve in your Saturn Vue.

Instructions

    1

Open the hood of your car. Find the PCV valve on your Saturn Vue's cam cover, next to the car's engine. To find the correct part, look for a small hose connected to the valve.

    2

Remove the PCV valve by pulling the part away from the cover and towards you. After you have released the valve, you can disconnect the hose.

    3

Test whether the PCV valve works properly. Shake the part and listen for a rattling sound. If you don't hear a rattle, then you need to make the replacement on your Saturn Vue. You'll want to also feel for presence of a vacuum at the bottom of the valve.

    4

Buy the replacement PCV valve for your Saturn Vue. To get an OEM standard PCV valve, place an order through the Saturn Parts Wholesale website. You can find all years and engine types available on this site.

    5

Look for the opening where you removed the former PCV valve on the cam cover. Push the longer side through the opening and connect the shorter side to the PCV valve's hose. Start your car to see if this resolved your engine's issue.
