Your 2000 through 2001 Acura Integra may be exciting to drive but you need to be able to stop when the time comes. Because of this you need to replace the front disc brakes in your Integra when the maintenance is required. This will prevent costly and possibly fatal problems at a later date.

Instructions

    1

Park the Acura Integra on a flat surface. Put the emergency brake on and place wedges behind the wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Use a syringe, turkey baster or similar tool, to drain two thirds of the brake fluid from the master cylinder. Remove the wheel.

    2

Locate and lower the caliper bolt. Gripping the caliper, pivot it away from the direction of the rotor. Remove the pads. Remove the shims. Remove the pad retainer springs. Use automotive engine cleaner and clean the area points where the shim and pads touch the mount and the caliper.

    3

Apply silicone grease to the areas that were cleaned to lubricate them. Install the pad retainers into position on the bracket of the caliper. Apply high temperature brake grease to the back side of the pads. Make sure that the excess amount is wiped off. Apply a thin layer of brake grease to both sides of the shim.

    4

Install the pads. Install the shims. With the wear indicator facing upward, apply the inner brake pad. Loosen the bleed screw to allow mounting of the caliper over the rotor, push in the caliper piston. Torque the bleed screw, using a torque wrench, to 84-inches lbs.

    5

Install the caliper bolts once you have pivoted the caliper back down over the rotor. Using a torque wrench, torque the bolts to 24-ft. lbs. Reinstall the brake pad wear indicator connector. Reinstall the wheels.

    6

Reinstall the wheels. Add brake fluid to the master cylinder. Bleed the brakes. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery. Start the engine and pump the brakes 3 to 4 times to seat the brake pads. Test drive the Acura Integra at slow to moderate speeds to ensure that the maintenance was performed correctly.
