The 1999 Pontiac Montana's power window switch cover is attached to the door panel's armrest. Removing the cover is necessary if you wish to replace the power window switches or if you want to remove the Montana's door panel. The procedure to remove the cover is the same on the driver and passenger side. The cover also contains the power door locks and power mirrors.

Instructions

    1

Open the Montana's hood. Find the black cable attached to the battery. You should see a "Negative" sign next to it. Turn the nut around the cable with the pliers, and then lift the black cable upward to disconnect it.

    2

Open the door wide to have better access to the power window switch cover. Insert your pry tool into either corner of the switch cover. Pry upward to release the edge. Work your way around the cover, carefully popping out the clips.

    3

Grasp the power window switch cover firmly. Pull it upward to remove it from the door panel. Turn it over. You'll see the switch connections for the power windows, power locks and power mirrors. Push the connection tab on each of the switches and unplug them from the cover.
