Spark plugs in a Mitsubishi 3000GT need to be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles for optimal performance. The spark plugs in a Mitsubishi 3000GT needs to be inspected and cleaned every 10,000 to 15,000 miles. Replacing the spark plugs extends the engine's life and enhances fuel efficiency.

Instructions

    1

Remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Some Mitsubishi 3000GT fans start automatically up to 15 minutes after the engine is shut down. Allow the engine to cool before moving on to Step 2.

    2

Look along the side and top of the engine to find the spark plug cables that run from the ignition coil to the spark plug. Unhook the spark plug wire from the ignition coil and turn the wire by the boot to release the wire from the engine. Pull the wire out of the cylinder well to reveal the spark plug.

    3

Insert the socket extender and wrench into the cylinder well and onto the top of the spark plug. This may be up to 7 inches into the engine on some Mitsubishi 3000GT models.

    4

Remove the old spark plug. Turn the socket counter-clockwise and pull the spark plug out of the cylinder well.

    5

Spread anti-seize compound evenly over the threads of the new spark plug and insert the non-threaded end into the spark plug socket.

    6

Lower the spark plug with the socket extension and socket wrench connecting into the cylinder well. Turn the wrench clockwise to thread the new spark plug into the engine. Do not continue when resistance is met or it will damage the machinery.

    7

Attach the tension tester tool to the spark plug and adjust the spark plug as needed to meet the specifications listed on the spark plug package.

    8

Slide the spark plug wire back into place and lock the boot to the engine. Attach the other side to the ignition coil and continue with the remaining spark plugs.
