Maintaining brakes and braking discs on a Porsche is incredibly important. While, the braking system of any car is important, it is vital to maintain good braking with a sports car, as they reach higher speeds and thus need more stopping power.

Instructions

    1

Jack up your Porsche. Use a car jack to jack the car and place the jack stands under the vehicle securely. It is important for the Porsche to be properly secured on the jack stands before continuing with the braking system replacement. This is for not only your safety, but to avoid damage to the car.

    2

Remove the wheel. Take a moment to wipe down the caliper, this will allow you to look for excessive corrosion or damage, which could be important with finding the problem and solving it to avoid the same problem with the new calipers.

    3

Disconnect the ABS cables and the connections for the pads. Using a screwdriver, take off the caliper and let it hang. Remove the brake pads with pliers or a screwdriver. Throw them away.

    4

Inspect new disc and pads. Do not touch the inner portion of the new pads in order to keep them clean. Check them all over, looking for grime, damage or other issues. Once you have determined they are clean and ready to go, you can install them. Remove the disc next with a screwdriver and remove the screws. Use a steel brush to clean the rust off the disc.

    5

Install new disc and pads. Reinstall the disc, then plug the pads in and reinstall the cross that holds them. Check to make sure everything is tight and the disc turns fluidly. Clean everything and reinstall the wheels.
