The 2002 Ford Mustang's window switch is integrated with its door lock switch; these two switches are removed and replaced at the same time. The switches themselves are integrated into a plastic section of the door panel, although they can be removed from the panel. You may need to remove the Mustang's window switch to remove the car's door panel, or if the window switch is faulty, in which case you would need to replace it.

Instructions

    1

Examine the door panel on the side you plan to work on. Find the plastic panel in the center of the door panel; the window switch and the door lock switch are integrated with this panel. The panel extends close to the top edge of the door panel.

    2

Insert your pry tool or flathead screwdriver into the top edge of the window switch panel. Pry gently outward, and then work your way across the entire top edge of the window switch panel. This pops the panel's clips out.

    3

Grasp the exposed top edge of the panel with one hand and grasp the edge of the coin holder with the other. Gently pull upward and toward you to remove the panel from the Mustang's door panel. Be careful, as there are several wiring connections on the other side of the panel.

    4

Turn the panel over. If you plan to replace the entire panel, simply unplug the wiring harness from its base connection behind the edge of the door panel. You want to replace the switch without replacing the panel, remove the Phillips screws from the back of the switch, and then unplug the wiring harness.
