Your Cadillac Escalade has a mechanical or belt-driven fan. These steps for replacing the engine fan on a Cadillac Escalade require nothing more than a wrench. An amateur should be able to do this job comfortably within 30 minutes.

Instructions

    1

Remove just the upper part of the fan shroud from your Cadillac Escalade. This is the plastic "casing" for the fan blades that protects them from debris and other foreign matter.

    2

Use your wrench to loosen the retaining bolt--this is often quite tight. Once the bolt is loose, remove the entire fan and clutch assembly, then remove the fan blade from the clutch (this requires loosening another bolt.)

    3

Install the new fan blade to the clutch and tighten the bolts. You may find a torque wrench useful here; your target torque is 17 foot pounds (23 Nm).

    4

Reinstall the fan and clutch assembly into the engine compartment and tighten the fan clutch nut to 41 foot pounds (56 Nm).

    5

Replace the upper part of the fan shroud and ensure that it is secure.
