Knowing how to repair your own vehicle can save you time, money and the hassle of taking your car to a mechanic. This extends to the windshield washer system, which can develop problems. It is important to check and make sure the system is working properly before the winter months.

Instructions

    1

Inspect the components of your windshield washing system and repair any broken or damaged pieces. Once you have done this, it is time to re-assemble the windshield washing system.

    2

Reinstall the windshield washing reservoir. This is the reservoir that holds the windshield washing fluid. It is important to inspect it before reinstallation to make sure there are no cracks or damage. To reinstall, pull the fender of the passenger side out slightly and push the reservoir in while lining up the nub into the orifice. Bolt the reservoir into place.

    3

Locate the windshield washer pump behind the fender and the electrical connector which is hanging at the moment. Plug it back into the washer pump. Take the hose and reconnect it to the nipple down towards the bottom of the pump under where you connected the electrical plug.

    4

Notice the groove on the pump housing, which is where the hose fits after it is reconnected. It keeps the hose from hanging, so just push it along the groove and into it. Make sure the hose is not kinked or twisted in the fender or other body pieces, which will prevent the fluid from traveling to the windshield washer system.
