You may find your vehicle's rear window defogger doesn't work correctly. If this is the case, you may have a damaged grid or fuse. A newer SUV crossover on the market introduced in 2001, Hyundai Santa Fe models feature rear-window defoggers as a standard feature. Once you locate a defogger repair kit found at most auto repair retailers, you can easily fix a faulty defogger in around 30 minutes.

Instructions

    1

Purchase a rear-window defogger repair kit from an auto repair store. Most kits should work on all automobiles. Ask for assistance at the store if you have questions.

    2

Find the electrical tabs around the edge of your Hyundai Santa Fe model's window. Determine if the tabs or wires are broken. If they are, then remove them.

    3

Remove the sandpaper, which can be found in your defogger repair kit. Lightly sand the tab. Clean the contact area and the tab with the alcohol preparation, which is also in the kit.

    4

Treat both parts with the activator. Make sure to let the area dry for two minutes. Massage the packet of adhesive, also in the kit, and dab the contents onto the tab. Tape or hold the tab on the grid until you no longer need to apply pressure. You must wait at least 24 hours before you use your defogger.

    5

Look at the grid of your defogger for breaks in the grid lines. If you find one, clean it with the alcohol to prepare for the repair.

    6

Let the alcohol dry. Use the stencil from the kit to apply conducting paint to the grid line. Wait for it to dry, allowing at least 24 hours, before you use your defogger.
