How to Replace Your Turn Signal Relay in a Hyundai Santa Fe

There may be times when the turn signal in your Hyundai Santa Fe just doesn't work. You immediately think it's a bad bulb, but this may not be the case. The turn signal relay may be the culprit and needs replacement. To replace this part is something most anyone can do and saves you money on auto mechanic charges.

Find the relay box panel on the Hyundai Santa Fe. In most Santa Fe's, the panel is on the lower part of the steering column above the brake pedal.

Grab a screwdriver and remove the relay panel. You will either need a Phillips head screwdriver, if the panel has screws or a flat head, if the screws are absent. Either way, be sure to remove the panel carefully, as it's made of a breakable plastic.

Look on the underside of the panel lid at the relay and fuse diagram to locate the turn signal relay. The list may contain abbreviations, so examine the list for a comparable abbreviation. If there isn't any list, the turn signal relay is usually near the top right hand corner of the box.

Remove the faulty turn signal relay and replace it with the new one. Make certain to remove and replace this item carefully, as you can damage the relay or the parts near it, if you aren't alert.

Check to see if your turn signal works with the new relay installed. If not, check to make sure the relay is securely in place and you replaced the right one. If it works, replace the relay panel with the screwdriver.
