Whether you have a sedan or coupe, at some time you'll experience a blown fuse with your Oldsmobile Alero. When this occurs, you do not need a mechanic. Change most fuses yourself in under 30 minutes and for little cost.

Instructions

    1

Turn off the car before pulling out a fuse. Find the two fuse boxes in the passenger compartment of your Oldsmobile Alero. One is on the driver's side and the other is on the passenger's side of the instrument panel.

    2

Consult your owner's manual to find the location of the fuse you need to change. You can also find this information on the inside of the fuse box cover.

    3

Locate the blown fuse. If it's a radio fuse in a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, you'd find it in the slot marked "Radio Batt" in the fuse box on the passenger's side. Use the fuse puller inside of the fuse box to remove the fuse.

    4

Check the inside wire of the fuse. A blown fuse has a burned or broken wire.

    5

Put in a new fuse with the same rating. Verify the fuse rating against what's listed on the fuse box or owner's manual for the particular model and year in question. Click it into place and close the fuse cover. Restart you car and verify you've corrected the problem.
