Basic Auto Shop Tools

You need to have the right tools to run an auto repair shop. But if you can't afford to buy everything at once, invest in few basic auto repair tools that are absolutely necessary. Keep you and your auto repair workers safe by purchasing good quality equipment.

Car Lifts

You will need a good quality car lift so you can examine the car from underneath without it falling on you. Purchase a reliable two-post car lift which can lift up many different kinds of vehicles at a comfortable height. Make sure you have adequate space in your garage to install it. If your auto repair is too small for two-post car lift, a scissor car lift is another option. A scissor car lift raises a car above ground level much like a regular car jack. However, a scissor car lift may not be able to lift heavier cars or trucks.

Oil Drain

Purchase an oil drain which cleans and drains used oil from the car. Oil drains are safe and easy to use and you do not have to worry about oil spills making mess in your auto repair shop. Purchase a heavy duty oil drain if you will be using it frequently.

Basic Hand Tools

Whether you are changing tires, tuning a car, or changing spark plugs you should have wide variety of wrenches, screw drivers and sockets on hand at all times. There are many tool sets that contain all the different kinds of tools you need. However, there are some wrenches and sockets you have to buy separately. Spend a little more money and purchase good quality ones so they don't break easily. Purchase an aluminum tool box tray so you can store all your tools in one place. Many toolbox trays come with wheels on the bottom making it easy for you to carry anywhere.
