Between 2003 and 2007, the Honda Accord offered a 240 horsepower 3.0L V6 engine with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. This seventh generation Accord offers straightforward, reliable transportation and is widely popular among used-vehicle shoppers. Removing and installing the exhaust manifold is rather straightforward, too.

Instructions

Remove the Exhaust Manifold

    1

Elevate the vehicle and make sure it is secure. Loosen the screws and remove the engine undercover. Take the exhaust pipe with the gasket from the exhaust manifold and set it aside.

    2

Lower the vehicle and remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Loosen the mounting nuts and remove them from the manifold.

    3

Lift the manifold from the engine. Remove the old gasket and discard it. Scrape any gasket material from the manifold.

Install the Exhaust Manifold

    4

Clean the gasket mating surfaces with solvent and compressed air. Dry the surface thoroughly then check to make sure there is no damage.

    5

Set the gasket in place. Install the exhaust manifold. Tighten the nuts in sequence working out from the center in three passes to 23 foot pounds.

    6

Replace the heat shield. Tighten the bolts to 16 foot pounds.

    7

Raise the vehicle again. Connect the exhaust pipe to the manifold with the new gasket. Tighten the nuts to 40 foot pounds.

    8

Start the engine. Check for exhaust leaks.
