The Toyota Tundra was designed to compete with the full-size pickups offered by the Big Three American automakers. Changes were made in later generations of the Tundra with the hopes of drawing in the more serious pickup buyer. The following steps detail the installation of a new thermostat on the Tundra's 4.7L and 3.4L engines.

Instructions

    1

    Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Take out the steering wheel. Remove the screws that hold the upper and lower column covers, then remove the covers.

    Disengage the four connectors. Disable the airbag connector before proceeding.

    Remove the three screws that hold the combination switch in place. Set the screws aside and remove the combination switch.

    Put the new combination switch in position, then secure iw tiht the three screws. Reactivate the airbag system by connecting the connector.

    Reconnect the other four connectors, then install the upper and lower covers to the steering column. Put the three screws in place to secure the covers.

    Connect the battery ground cable to the terminal. Start the engine. Test the turn signals and the hazard flashers to ensure proper operation.
