The Nissan Frontier's rear sway bar, also called the stabilizer bar, is connected to the lower control arm through a a metal rod link at each end. Over time, the rubber bushings on the links can wear out or begin cracking. This will require you to install new links to the sway bar. It is very likely that you'll need to install a new link on both ends of the sway bar. This is a general process for most vehicles, but it may vary depending on the Frontier's age and suspension type.

Instructions

    1

Block the front wheels on the truck with wheel chocks or heavy blocks. Raise the rear end and support it on jack stands and remove the wheel corresponding to the sway bar link.

    2

Loosen the nuts at the ends of the metal rod link and separate the link from the bar. You may need to grip the link itself with one open-ended wrench to hold it steady while loosening the nut with a second wrench.

    3

Connect the replacement link to the stabilizer bar through the bracket on the frame and tighten the nut with your wrench.

    4

Attach the link's other end to the lower control arm and secure it with its nut.

    5

Reconnect the wheel and lower the truck, or repeat the process for the other sway bar link and then reconnect the wheels and lower the truck off the jack stands.
