The Honda Prelude is the coupe version of the Honda Accord. These cars share many components, including interior parts such as seats. If one of the seats in your Prelude is damaged, you will need to have it replaced by a professional. If you have basic auto repair knowledge, you can replace it yourself. Changing each seat in the front takes about 15 minutes. Changing the rear seat takes about ten minutes.

Instructions

Changing a Front Seat

    1

Slide the front seat you want to replace forward using the adjustment bar beneath the front of the seat. Inspect the rear part of the seat track and locate the plastic cover on each track.

    2

Grasp the plastic covers and pull them off to expose the seat bolts. Remove the seat bolts.

    3

Slide the seat all the way back using the adjustment bar. Remove the two plastic covers from the front seat tracks with your fingers. Remove the bolts beneath them. The seat is now ready to be taken out.

    4

Grasp the front and rear part of the seat and lift it out of the Prelude.

    5

Place the new seat in position inside the car. Align the tracks up with the mounting bolts in the front and rear. Tighten the four seat mounting bolts and snap the covers on to install the new seat.

Changing the Rear Seat

    6

Access the Prelude's rear seating area. Inspect the front edge of the rear seat. Locate the two bolts between the seat and the carpet.

    7

Remove the two bolts with the socket wrench and save them for installing the new seat. Push down the fabric in the rear-center part of the seat. Locate the bolt which is between the seat and the back rest.

    8

Remove the bolt with a socket wrench, which will free the seat. Remove the entire one-piece seat by lifting up and pulling it out.

    9

Insert the new seat in its place. Guide the two seat belt buckles through the belt holes in the new seat.

    10

Tighten the three bolts to install the new seat.
