The Chevrolet S-10 has been popular since it came out in the '80s, but with popularity can come some drawbacks--such as thieves. It is pretty easy for someone to break into the S-10 truck using a flat-head screwdriver in the door handle. But if you want to fix your truck after a break-in, it will take a bit of time. In this case, the vehicle is a 1999 S-10, but the process is the same for other years as well.

Instructions

    1

Unbolt the door panel from the door using the 1/4-inch ratchet and sockets. There is a bolt under the armrest and on the bottom of the panel.

    2

Pull the panel off the door by prying under the panel and pulling. Clips hold the panel in place.

    3

Reach inside the door and disconnect the linkage that goes to the handle. There are little clips on the linkage that twist off and allow the linkage to fall out of the hole.

    4

Unbolt the handle from the door using the open-end wrench.

    5

Remove the grommet in the top of the door panel using the flat-head screwdriver. This will give you access to the bolt behind it.

    6

Unbolt the handle from the door using the 1/4-inch ratchet. Then remove the handle from the door.

    7

Install the replacement door handle in the reverse order of disassembly.
