Proper automotive maintenance is an essential part of keeping a vehicle legal and safe on the road. Some maintenance is very easy to do, requiring you to just check fluid levels or make sure that filters are clean. Other maintenance is much more in-depth, and may need to be done by a trained mechanic or require specialized tools in order to get it done. Regardless of the complexity, some maintenance is unavoidable if you want to be able to drive your car.Luckily, changing the brake lights on a 2002 Honda Passport is quite easy. In most cases the entire process will only take you a few minutes, and all that you need is a new bulb and a long-shafted Phillips head screwdriver.

Instructions

    1

Use your Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws in the brake light cover. Two of the screws should be easily seen and accessible, while the third will be closer to the bumper of the Passport. Make sure that your screwdriver is long enough to reach into all three of the screw shafts in order to get all three screws out.

    2

Take the brake light cover off carefully and set it aside. Carefully remove the burnt out bulb from its plug-in, making sure that you don't accidentally break it while taking it out.

    3

Plug the new bulb into the socket, replacing the cover and screws once the bulb has been secured. Make sure that the screws are tight, but take care not to strip one or more of the screws by trying to tighten them too much.
