How to Prepare Dupont Centari Acrylic Enamel for Autos

The DuPont Centari paint range consists of two different materials. The acrylic urethane product is widely used on privately owned cars and is applied in a single stage. For commercial vehicles and fleet work, DuPont Centari uses acrylic enamel materials that are able to deal with the rigors of various outdoor conditions. This paint is capable of withstanding high levels of humidity and ultraviolet sunlight while providing a flexible coating that is compatible with a full range of DuPont automotive undercoats.

Instructions

    1

Stir paint materials thoroughly before use. DuPont Centari enamels have a high solid content that makes them ideal for single coat application. Use a stirring stick and ensure that all solid content is scraped from the sides and the base of the packaging tins. Once stirred, the material should have a smooth, viscous texture that runs easily from the stirring stick. Stir again if lumps in the material are still visible.

    2

Place a paint measuring stick inside a perfectly clean metal mixing pot so it rests against the sides. The paint measuring stick should be compatible with DuPont Centari enamel products and must display the correct mixing ratio of 8:1:2.

    3

Establish the quantity of paint required. For two medium-sized auto body panels, a half-liter of enamel paint will be sufficient. Look at the left-hand side of the measuring stick for a series of progressively numbered lines running from top to bottom. Each line represents one-tenth of a liter of unmixed paint. If a half-liter of paint is required, pour the enamel paint until it is level with line number 5. Choose higher or lower lines on the left-hand side of the measuring stick to adjust paint quantity.

    4

Use the middle line of the measuring stick to establish the correct level of hardener. If you have poured paint to the same level as line number 5 on the left-hand side, you will need to pour hardener to line number 5 on the middle of the stick. DuPont Centari enamels must be mixed with 739S hardener.

    5

Use the right-hand side of the measuring stick to add the correct amount of reducer. If the enamel paint and hardener have been poured to line number 5, the same number must be used on the right-hand side of the stick for reducer. Use 8034S, 8022S, 8093S or 8096S reducer to ensure compatibility.

    6

Stir the paint, hardener and reducer thoroughly. Wipe the measuring stick clean with a piece of cloth and transfer the prepared material to a pressure pot or spray gun, pouring through a paint strainer to remove any grit or fibers.
