Although no longer in production since 2004, many drivers still enjoy ownership of their Dodge Intrepid and want to keep it running and looking good as long as possible. However, even minor repairs can add up, so it pays to learn to do a few of them yourself. Replacing a headlight bulb in your Dodge Intrepid yourself is a great way to save some cash.

Instructions

    1

Set the parking brake on your Dodge Intrepid, remove the keys from the ignition and make sure to switch the headlights to "OFF" before replacing the headlight bulb.

    2

Open the hood by first releasing the interior hood latch located under the instrument panel on the driver's side. Release the auxiliary latch under the front center of the hood of the car. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

    3

Locate the two large 7/16 screws on the top of the headlight assembly. Use a screwdriver to remove them. Put the screws in your pocket or another safe place, so you don't lose them.

    4

Pull the headlight assembly out and away from the front of the vehicle. You may need to pull a little harder at the bottom of the assembly to get it to come out completely.

    5

Disconnect the electrical connector from the back of the lamp assembly. The low beam is located closest to the turn signal and the high beam is the farthest away. Rotate the old bulb counterclockwise and pull out to remove it from the lamp assembly.

    6

Install a replacement bulb with a clockwise turn and slight push in to the bulb socket. Reconnect the electrical connector once you've seated the new bulb correctly.

    7

Reinstall the remaining components of the headlight assembly in reverse order of removal. Don't forget to connect the negative battery cable.

    8

Close the hood of your Dodge Intrepid and check that the headlights are working properly.
