The windshield wiper blades may be the most neglected part on a vehicle. Many get cracked and need to be replaced, but you don't discover that until you actually need to use them. You should inspect the wiper blades on your F-150 for defects every six months. At the first sign of wear and tear, purchase replacement blades. Replacing the wiper blades on your F-150 is a simple task that requires no tools.

Instructions

    1

Turn the windshield wipers on to lift the blades to an accessible position. Lift the wiper arm away from the windshield. Wiper arms are spring-loaded, so take care not to overextend the arm and damage the spring mechanism.

    2

Turn the wiper blade toward you slightly to reveal the lock pin on the wiper assembly. The lock pin is a rectangular button that when pushed unlocks the windshield wiper blades from the wiper arm. Firmly press the pin to release the lock.

    3

Hold the lock down and slide the windshield wiper blade to the center of the windshield with your other hand. Wiper blades that have been on the vehicle for some time may be harder to remove than newer blades.

    4

Release the lock pin. Align the new blade with the windshield wiper track on the wiper arm. Begin sliding the new blade along the track until it is locked into place. You will hear an audible click when the new wiper blade has reached its stopping point. Repeat the process for the other blade.

    5

Test your new wiper blades to see how efficiently they work.
