Drivers in extreme climates depend on the blower/heater switch to regulate the car's temperature. If the switch isn't functioning, you can repair it yourself, but first you must find the switch. Before attempting the repair, wait overnight for your car's engine to cool.

Instructions

    1

Find your fuse box, which often is concealed behind a plastic panel inside the door jamb of the driver's side door.

    2

Examine the fuse box area. As this is a similar piece of equipment, it is sometimes located near the fuse box. It may also be located near your air conditioning compressor clutch, as it can control that device as well. Your car's blower/heater switch may be located here.

    3

Locate your blower/heater switch. Oftentimes, this will look like two rectangular plastic knobs when fully installed. This plastic conceals the control relays and rheostat that modulate the speed at which your car's cabin fans spin. When removed, the blower/heater switch has metal extensions that plug into the proper place. These serve as connectors to put your heating and air conditioning in contact with the dials on your dashboard. This your car's blower/heater switch.

    4

Put these rectangular plastic knobs back onto your car when you're finished with the work you need to do with your car's blower/heater switch.
