The Acura Integra is a mid-size sedan from Honda. The Integra offers owners a reliable, award winning design. It was named to the "Car and Driver" Top Ten numerous times since it premiered in 1986. The standard setup for the springs in the Acura Integra are part of a double wishbone suspension. The Acura Integra offers a sports suspension setup with high performance springs.

Instructions

    1

Jack up the car and use jack stands before removing the wheels. Get the metric wrenches ready for the Acura Integra. The various Integra Acura series don't require any special tools.

    2

Remove the strut (damper) from the Integra. You may need a little WD-40 to loosen the bolts.

    3

Compress the coil spring with the spring compressor before removing the locking nut from the shock and taking off the spring. The Integra's near-luxury size allows for some extra workspace, and Acura's superior engineering makes for ease of access to the suspension.

    4

Install the new compressed spring coil onto the shock absorber. The Acura Integra Type R series will require stiffer springs to maintain their racing quality handling. With the Acura Type R advanced suspension system, you may want to take a look at the other elements of the suspension for signs of wear.

    5

Reassemble the upper spring seat/bearing and related components along with the mounting washer and a new self-locking nut.

    6

Hold the shock absorber piston rod and tighten the self-locking nut onto the shock absorber. Pay special attention to any parts which were moved aside while working on the Integra. Run a quick inspection beneath the Integra to be certain everything is in its proper place, such as hoses.

    7

Lower the car and tighten the suspension's nuts and bolts. Once again run a safety check on the Acura's suspension. Repeat the procedure with each spring.
