Recharge your car battery if it is giving you problems such as not starting in a store parking lot. With this option, you may not have a battery that has all of the characteristics as when it was brand new, but it will give you the juice you need to start up the car to go to work until you can get the money to buy a new one.

Instructions

    1

Purchase a car battery charger, if you do not already have one. Locate the plug nearest to where you park your car. If you must use an extension cord, choose a heavy-duty one. Assure that the charger and battery are in a protective, covered area.

    2

Set the charger to give you the voltage needed to recharge your battery.

    3

Clamp the charger onto the battery posts using the appropriately colored handle connections. This will be red to positive and black to negative, like when you use jumper cables.

    4

Adjust the charger to "Charge" and turn it on. Allow the battery to recharge overnight.

    5

Disconnect the battery charger connections one at a time, making sure they do not touch one another in any way, while still attached.
