The mirrors on a GMC give the driver a way to see other drivers on the road, and bring an additional layer of safety to the vehicle. These mirrors may be damaged in parking lots by errant drivers, hit on poles while backing up, or ruined in one way or another because of how they stick out from the car. To get your vehicle back to normal, you'll need to replace the mirror. In this case, the project vehicle is a 2002 GMC Savanna, but the process is similar for other vehicles as well.

Instructions

    1

Open the door. Pull off the interior panel in the top corner of the door using your hands, exposing the mirror bolts underneath. Unplug the mirror harness if your GMC has power mirrors.

    2

Roll down the window. Hold the mirror while unbolting the three bolts holding the mirror in place using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the mirror off of the door, making sure not to hit the studs on the mirror on any painted surfaces.

    3

Place the replacement mirror on the door. Hold it steady while bolting it in place with the ratchet. Reconnect the electrical harness by hand. Push the interior panel back on the door until the clips reset in the door.
