Designed for performance, the Honda Prelude has gained popularity for is reliability. Part of what feeds the interest in this vehicle is the design and the performance. In order for this car to remain reliable, maintenance needs to be performed. This maintenance should include replacing the valve cover gasket.

Instructions

    Select a location to perform the maintenance on your Honda Prelude. Some neighborhoods ban performing maintenance in the drive way and some apartment complexes frown on this as well, so ensure that you can do this without encountering problems because of the location that you have selected to perform the maintenance.

    Prepare your Honda Prelude for the maintenance that will be performed on it. This preparation needs to include allowing the car to cool before servicing it.

    Disconnect the battery and the harness clamps. Remove the air cleaner housing bracket and harness holder from the cylinder head.

    Remove coolant temperature connector's the air fuel ratio sensor. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor connector, the EGR valve connector, the oil control solenoid sensor and the rocker arm oil pressure switch.

    Remove bolts from the valve cover gasket. Then remove the valve cover and replace the old gasket with the new one.

    Replace the valve cover. Reconnect the coolant temperature connector's air fuel ratio sensor, heated oxygen sensor connector, the EGR valve connector, the oil control solenoid sensor and the rocker arm oil pressure switch. Reconnect the battery and the harness clamps, the air cleaner housing bracket and harness holder to the cylinder head. Add oil to the car and let the car run idle for a short period of time.
