An older van like the 1999 Chevy Astro van can experience the problem of a burned out light bulb. You will also need to change the light if it's broken. You need to replace the entire headlamp to replace these lights no matter what the case. The 1999 Astro uses sealed beam headlights that are mounted and surrounded by a concave trim bezel. Once you install a new light, you will likely need to adjust it for correct aim.

Instructions

    1

Turn the headlight switch off from inside the van if it the lights are on.

    2

Unscrew and remove the four mounting screws for the headlight bezel with a Torx wrench. Rotate the bezel, rotate the parking and turn signal bulb holders to remove them from the bezel and pull the bezel off completely.

    3

Remove the four screws near the corner of the headlight assembly with a screwdriver--not the screws at the center top or sides--and remove the metal retaining ring surrounding the headlamp.

    4

Pull the headlight out of its seat and unplug the electrical connector behind it.

    5

Connect the replacement headlight to the electrical connector and seat it within the frame.

    6

Install the retaining ring with its mounting screws.

    7

Reconnect the bezel, installing the turn/parking bulbs and securing the bezel with its Torx screws.
