Determine which fuel pump your Acura Integra will need. This depends on the make, model and the engine size. Models built from 1985 to 1988 have a 1.6 L engine, 1989 to 1993 models may have a 1.7 or 1.8 L engine and models manufactured after 1993 will have a 1.8 L engine.
2Relieve the fuel system pressure. Remove the kick panel under the dash and take out the PGM-FI main relay that controls the fuel pump. Disconnect the negative battery cable, start the engine and run it until it stalls.
3Access the fuel pump by taking out the rear seat and removing the maintenance access cover. Unplug the fuel pump's electrical connection.
4Remove the fuel pump by holding the connector for the fuel line in one hand while pressing down on the retainer tabs with the other. This will allow you to pull off the connector. Cover the connector and pipe with plastic and have a towel handy to soak up excess fuel. Unscrew the mounting nuts for the fuel pump with a socket wrench and remove the fuel pump.
5Install the new fuel pump using the items included in the kit, especially the retainer. Use a torque wrench to tighten the mounting nuts for the fuel pump to 53 in. lbs.
6Complete the installation by reversing the removal procedure.
