The 1996 Chevrolet Lumina Sedan comes equipped with numerous safety and illumination features including front and rear sidemarker lamps. Each of these four lamps are illuminated by a single 194 automobile bulb. While these bulbs are engineered to provide long life, occasionally they may burn out and need to be replaced. Heres how to replace the sidemarker lamps on a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina Sedan and maybe save a few bucks by doing it yourself.

Instructions

    1

Turn on your headlights by turning the headlight switch, located on the dash to the left of the steering wheel, clockwise two notches. Walk completely around the car and observe which bulb is burned out. Turn off the headlights.

    2

Locate the screws securing the sidemarker lamp lens to the side of the Lumina. Turn the screws counter-clockwise with the Phillips head screwdriver until the lens is free. Set the screws aside.

    3

Pull the sidemarker lens assembly away from the body of the Lumina. Grasp the bulb socket and turn it counter-clockwise until it stops. Pull the socket and bulb from the sidemarker lens assembly.

    4

Pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Discard the burned-out bulb.

    5

Push the new bulb straight into the socket. Push the socket into the sidemarker lens assembly. Turn the socket clockwise until it locks in place.

    6

Replace the sidemarker lens assembly back into its housing on the Lumina. Replace the screws and tighten them by turning clockwise with the Phillips head screwdriver.

    7

Turn on your headlights by turning the headlight switch, located on the dash to the left of the steering wheel, clockwise two notches. Walk around the car and observe which bulb was replaced to ensure it is working properly. Turn off the headlights.
