How to Replace the Passenger Side Mirror on a 2005 Ford F-150

The passenger side mirror on the 2005 Ford F-150 truck is mounted from the inside of the door behind the trim panel; you'll need to remove the panel in order to remove it and install a new mirror. If the old mirror was partially broken off or otherwise severely damaged, alter the procedure as necessary and use caution to avoid injury from sharp glass or other broken pieces.

Instructions

Removing the Door Panel

    1

Disconnect the inner door handle by removing its mounting bolts; pry off the fastener cover with a flat screwdriver to access the bolts, then detach the latch cable after removing the handle.

    2

Pry out the switch control plate from the armrest with a trim stick and disconnect its electrical connectors. If the truck uses manual windows, remove the window crank by prying off the handle cover and unscrewing the handle.

    3

Remove the speaker cover with the trim stick, then remove the speaker by removing its mounting screws and disconnecting its electrical connector.

    4

Unscrew the two fasteners on the inner edge of the door, pull the trim panel up and off the door and disconnect the wiring harnesses behind the panel.

Replacing the Mirror

    5

Unplug the electrical connector if the truck has power mirrors.

    6

Remove the mirror's four retaining nuts, located on the inner side of the door, using a small wrench. Remove the mirror.

    7

Mount the replacement mirror in place, apply the retaining nuts and connect the electrical connector.

    8

Connect the trim panel back on the door and attach all its components, including the speaker, switch control plate and inner handle.
