Left unchecked, rust can destroy the value of a vehicle. The key is to stop it quickly and keep up on it, so it doesn't grow further. Fortunately, there are products on the market that can stop rust in its tracks, which makes fixing the problem much easier.

Instructions

    1

Scuff up the floor using a red scuffing pad. This will remove most of the surface rust from the floor and get rid of the easy stuff.

    2

Insert the wire brush into the end of the drill and tighten the chuck.

    3

Use the drill to turn the wire brush and scrub off all of the rust from the surface. This is going to clean up the bulk of the rust on the floor.

    4

Apply the rust encapsulator onto the floor where it was rusted or still shows rust. This will stop rust from growing on the floor.

    5

Spray the rubberized undercoating over the rusted spot once the encapsulator has cured, usually 24 hours. This will not only help deaden sound but will also add a second layer of protection against rust.

  1. Thanks for the information on how to fix rust on a car. My car has some rust spots on it and I hate how they look. Hopefully I can get rid of them using the method you described. What do you think about rust inhibitor sprays?
