The Ford Mustang has one of the largest sets of aftermarket parts available for any car model. One of the most requested aftermarket parts is the Mustang hood. A variety of hood types are available for the Mustang (of just about all model years) and knowing how to install a Mustang hood once you decide on the type you will use is critical. Fortunately, the process of installing a hood on a Mustang is fairly simple and can be accomplished by any home mechanic.

Instructions

    1

Open the Mustang's driver's side door and reach along the bottom of the console beneath the steering wheel to find the hood release. Pull the release to pop the hood.

    2

Lift the hood and find the hood latches located on either side of the hood near the windshield. Use the socket wrenches to remove the mounting bolts holding the hood to the latches.

    3

Have your helper assist in lifting the hood free from the car and set it aside. Place the new hood on top of the engine compartment and line up the mounting holes on the hood with the mounting holes on the hood hinges.

    4

Reinstall the hood mounting bolts and tighten them down with the socket wrench. Close the hood, making sure it latches properly.
