Cars come with a lot of options from the factory, but one option that not every car comes with is body side molding, which is a plastic or rubber strip, typically about 1 to 3 inches high, that goes down the side of the door parallel to the ground. Besides the added styling and looks that can come from side trim, it also can protect the steel of the door from door dings and other damage. Plus, it's easy to install and only takes a few minutes.

Instructions

    1

Apply the rubbing alcohol to a paper towel and wipe down the side of the car where you plan on sticking the body side molding, making sure the area is clean and free of dirt and grime.

    2

Apply the rubbing alcohol to a paper towel and wipe down the backside of the molding. Clean off grime and residue on the back of the panel.

    3

Peel off a section of the double-sided tape and cut it to fit the body side molding.

    4

Stick the tape to the body side molding by pressing down firmly on the tape. Make sure it adheres to the molding completely before moving on.

    5

Peel off the protective layer from the tape and stick the molding onto the car. Line it up, correctly and accurately, where you want it to be---this is a one-time deal. Once it's stuck, it's on there.

    6

Repeat the process with any other pieces of trim that may need mounting.
